Statement of intent Feedback and Redraft

This magazine shares the inspiring story of a young man who turned his life around completely. Not long ago, he was failing his mock exams, struggling with his weight, and felt lost and invisible. He had no motivation, no social life, and no clear direction. But instead of giving up, he made a brave decision  to change his life step by step. The target audience for my magazine is for young adults for the age of 15 or older and it is for both genders..

He started with small changes, like revising for short periods every day, going for runs, and eating healthier. Over time, those small choices became strong habits. He began to see real progress, and that gave him the confidence to keep going. He started sharing his journey online, posting updates about studying, fitness, and self-improvement. People connected with his honesty, and soon his personal journey grew into a movement. Today, he’s a successful influencer who motivates thousands of followers to believe in themselves and take action.

The front cover of the magazine will feature him holding his first book, Discipline. The photo will use a medium close-up shot. The cover will also include pull quotes from his interviews and the name of his YouTube channel. The target audience for my magazine is for young adults for the age of 15 or older and it is for both genders..

Use of media terminology (language/representation/theory): 2

Comments for AQA:

  • The candidate has outlined their intentions, but these are inconsistent as there is too much emphasis on the actual individual, they are choosing to represent rather than a focus on the magazine product itself or the audience they are intending to target
  • Some attempt to include relevant media terminology e.g. camera shots but again not enough to award top marks in higher levels

Next steps:

  • Go over the statement of intent guidance document and redraft this based on the exemplar that is there. Remember you need to include the title of your new celebrity gossip magazine and cover lines that you wish to include.
  • Consider the representation of the person you are highlighting for your ‘celebrity influencer’ for your double page spread – how would this appeal to the intended target audience?
  • What media theories can you include e.g. Propp, Todorov, Barthes or Blumler and Katz?
